Warm da House
Last Saturday (I said I was busy), wifey and I finally threw a housewarming party. Considering we'd moved in late May, we were pushing the bounds of 'housewarming," but that didn't seem to keep people away - or from bringing wine. I think we ended up with about 700 bottles of stomped grapes. Sweet (well some are. Some are dry. Like my humor. Ha.).
Despite a grey day, the weather held out and we were able to spill out onto the patio. For some dumb reason (we were WAY busy cooking and stuff), we didn't take any pictures. I don't think anyone did. Not even picture picture. Ah well.
It was a nicely mixed turnout of family, friends, and coworkers (and those categories overlapped more than once). Some of the usual suspects couldn't make it, and a few we didn't expect actually made the trip. We were quite impressed. One aunt/uncle pair jaunted 80 miles to join us. That rocks.
Everyone seemed to like the house or lied very convincingly. We're glad. Not that there's anything NOT to like about the house, and not that we'd much care if someone didn't like it, because we love it and they can piss up a rope, but it was nice to hear the compliments. More that 20 times, we heard how lucky we were to have such a nice house as our first. About 100 times, we agreed. We are quite lucky and realize it wouldn't be without some very great people in our lives.
Many people have said, "Great party!" My off the cuff and quite sincere response was, "Great guests." Well that, and my baby made kick-ass food.
I was wondering if you were going to catch that and if you'd care. Wifely wife wife!!!!
Posted by: Oblivion at September 17, 2003 04:00 PMit was a totally fun party - and your house is totaly kick ass, even with the hideous light fixture and the monstrosity of a mirror ... the size, the space, the backyard...it's all so envy-inducing I can't stand it!
thanks for the invite!
glad you liked the flowers ( and the boy!) I brought. I'll bring 'em again, next time, I'm pretty sure!
